I really love the way you presented the
information in your report. You make a
solid case that gives the audience ownership
rather than just a responsibility with no underlying
meaning. It is a confident, thoughtful plan that
answers questions and tackles issues. I have a great
deal of confidence in both phases of this plan and it
already feels rewarding to get to this definitive and
strong starting point. It would be hard to explain to
anyone what has gone into getting us here and I have
an entirely new appreciation for the work that you
do as a consultant.

Thank you for such a fantastic, professionally run, and well thought
through meeting! I left with so much enthusiasm for my new role
at LBF. The challenge now is to develop the path as to how we are
going to move LBF to its "highest potential!"

We have made some significant strides since you
came and empowered us. Please be informed that
we are a new and different organization since your
intervention. We will never be the same and we can
only get better and better for the wonderful seeds
you have planted in us. We do things differently and
we are reaping the rewards.

Thank you so much for all of the planning you put into
the workshop for the Haitian Hometown Associations.
Your dedication to this program was incredible. It was
a pleasure to work with you.

Ladies,

I truly want to thank you for the presentation today
with FAVACA. I gained such valuable information.
We often think we know all the information, but you
have given me so many things to consider, rethink, and
modify. Although I have been involved with nonprofits
for 18 years at various levels, I learned so much today.
Thank you and I will be visiting your website as
well as keeping in touch.

Sincerely,

- Roseline Philipp-e

Dear Terrie,

I’ve been receiving your On Nonprofits Q&A and I just wanted to say, thank you.  The last three have covered subjects and issues that we have encountered.  I find this Q&A format to be informative and helpful, as I wear many hats as the Founder and Executive Director of APHH.  Receiving this information in my mail is a wonderful resource tool and saves me from sometimes having to search for this type of information.

Sincerely,
Sonia

Dear Terrie:

Thank you so much for the time and energy
you put into your presentation at our Board Retreat.
I apologize for not having contacted you sooner to
express my gratitude for your hard work and for
helping a lot of our members to think differently
about their roles in the governance of Lindenwood.

I was particularly taken with the introductions section --
your novel approach required everyone to think on their
feet. I was quite surprised at what came out during those
introductions -- the exercise actually helped me put some
pieces together in a member relationship and Board leader-
ship sense.

"Big idea" thinking was evident at our meeting on Saturday
morning, and the Friday dinner conversation centered on a
lot of the ideas that you presented on Friday afternoon. The
charts that we developed can be used to remind the Board
of our discussions and provide key content to the members
who were unable to be with us at the meeting. You gave us
some great material to work on.

I have enjoyed working with you and it was great to see you
work the room. You are a pro with a lot of valuable knowledge
to impart. Thank you most of all for your patience and good
humor. I also appreciate your offer of help as we move forward.

Hope to speak with you sometime soon.

Best regards,

Nancy

I want to personally thank you for CoreStrategies' outstanding participation
in our national conference Saturday. All of the feedback has been extremely
positive. Many comments were that this was the best national leadership
chapter training we have ever had with so many great "outside the box"
ideas in membership development, board training and fund raising.
I know that we will be using these strategies in our local chapter and
hope to invite Terrie for board training in the future.
We are delighted to have worked with CoreStrategies for our board retreat. Gail was diligent and kept us on task from beginning to end. She met with our board chairman, W. George Allen, as well as with me and other board members ahead of time to get a thorough sense of how best to help us. Simply thorough, and we appreciate it!

The experience with FAVACA and the four-person team from
CoreStrategies for Nonprofits that it sent was wonderful.
The information and support CoreStrategies provided
was a great springboard to improve our existing institution.

The quality of the presentations and willingness of
the presenters to serve us were outstanding. Fundraising
has long been a challenge to us and FAVACA, through
the efforts of CoreStrategies, has bridged that gap.
We now see the way forward in this area.

Thanks a million.

Wow Terrie...thanks for such good advice,
I'll follow up with your referrals and advise
you of the outcome. I sure hope to meet
with you in the near future to pick your
brain some more...your counsel is invaluable.

CoreStrategies was pivotal in helping the Humane
Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County
critique its organization, which had grown exponentially
in size and complexity. The assignment was sensitive
because it involved years of tradition, strong willed and
entrenched attitudes and a sense of entitlement by many
people involved with the organization. One of the significant
contributions that CoreStrategies brought to the project was
the insistence to reach deep into the organization to get |
to the meat of the issues and flush out responses that
clearly helped identify issues of concern.

The roadmap of how to position the organization from its
current state to one prepared to deal with new challenges
was only part of the assignment. Of equal importance was
the design and implementation of programs to reach our goals.
CoreStrategies helped the governance committee structure a
path to identify and reduce issues into a clear, digestible and
actionable recommendation for change. The final result was a
series of recommended changes, uniquely molded to our needs
and wants, which was presented to the Board for review and adoption.

CoreStrategies did not walk away from the assignment when
it was approved by the Board … critical to the success of this
major effort is the practical implementation of the changes,
which is underway with CoreStrategies on board to assist.

Chairman, Governance Committee

Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County

The three principals of CoreStrategies, Inc.
can best be described as a Trident of expertise
on nonprofit matters. Individually they are
incredible thinkers; collectively they are experienced
professionals who not only contribute to the discussion,
but nearly always have the best answers to the most
complex organizational situations.  If I or someone
on the staff had a problem or a new idea, it was very
natural to bounce them off one of the prongs. They
have an uncanny ability to trouble shoot and produce
a thoughtful and appropriate solution that is tailored to
our organization.  I endorse the work of CoreStrategies,
they are a nonprofit professional's - professional.

- Cristina Blanco
  Vice President of External Relations
  Historical Museum of Southern Florida

“Speaking on behalf of the members that worked
with you on this very important project, we are all
impressed with your experience and invaluable
insight regarding the efficient operation of a
nonprofit board of governors. Your suggestions
are powerful.”

- Robert A. Vigna, Board Chair
White Beeches Golf & Country Club

On behalf of FAVACA I would like to thank you
very much for dedicating your time and expertise
to the people of Haiti. I was so impressed with
how great all of you were and how you were
able to engage all of the students along with
the staff and advisors. I know they are very
grateful for you all coming down and teaching
them, which I think was very evident on the last
day of training when they made their
presentations to you.

– Chris Beyer
   FAVACA Program Coordinator

"This was a thought provoking
experience for board and staff.
You really assisted the organization
to better meet the needs of the community
we serve by helping us become more
effective at defining and implementing
our goals and objectives."

- Carol Clinton, Executive Director
Lake Worth West Resident Planning Group, Inc.

Your presentation was right on target,
infusing new energy into our group. We
are all excited about moving forward.

Please use me as a reference to others.
I'm hopeful we will be using your
services in the future.

Terrie Temkin’s knowledge of effective governance
and her ability to adapt the presentation to diverse
groups made our 2006 workshop series for library
boards and Friends of Library groups a success
across Florida. Participant evaluations indicated
appreciation for her practical tips and dynamic style.

- Faye C. Roberts, Library Program Specialist

[Gail], you were always more concerned
with the goal of assisting us through the process
rather than what you were getting out of it….
your commitment to us extended far
beyond what you earned as a consultant.”

- Dr. Tom Horan, Executive Director

CoreStrategies helped our organization
develop the necessary internal infrastructure for
creating and implementing numerous initiatives
and campaigns. Having a group with their
combined expertise and commitment
to success allowed for many significant
changes to take place seamlessly.
