to include Robyn Symon among our
senior consultants. Robyn is a two-time Emmy award-winning
Writer/Producer and President of Symon Productions,
Inc. a video production company specializing in
producing documentaries, series and new
media web content.
A
former TV news reporter, Symon wrote and produced
the national PBS documentary series Voices
of Vision, hosted by NPR’s Scott
Simon focusing on the work of nonprofit organizations
all over the world including stories on CARE, The
Autism Society, Boys Town and many others.
While
Senior Producer at WPBT-TV, the PBS
affiliate in Miami, Symon co-hosted and produced the
series Florida! which aired for six seasons on The
Travel Channel. Symon also launched a series of
new media campaigns called Health & Family
including internet, DVDs, PSAs and broadcast components
on treating and managing current health issues sponsored
by the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies.
In
2007, Symon debuted in the indie arena, producing
and directing the feature documentary Transformation:
The Life & Legacy of Werner Erhard about
one of the most controversial cultural figures of
the human potential movement. At its New York premiere,
“Transformation” broke the box office
record during its first week run. The film was acquired
for North American distribution by Screen Media Films
and is currently touring arthouse theaters around
the world.
Symon
recently completed her latest feature documentary,
Hedy & Yumi: Crossing the Bridge, about
a holocaust couple who have turned their loss into
a global mission to create a ‘culture of connection.’
Symon is currently producing a documentary on two-time
Nobel Peace Prize nominee SOMPOP Jantraka who is on
a mission to prevent young girls from entering Thailand’s
sex trade.
A
former TV news reporter for network affiliates, KBMT,
KJAC-TV and KLBJ in Texas, Symon has been honored
with numerous national awards including two Emmys
for writing and producing short documentaries; three
National Telly Awards; two NABJ awards, two Associated
Press and UPI honors for news reporting.
