Connie Coopersmith
Connie Coopersmith joined CoreStrategies
for Nonprofits Inc. as its public policy expert after founding
Swallow the Sun Communications, a boutique firm specializing
in public affairs, corporate and nonprofit communications and events,
speechwriting and strategic guidance.
She served eight
years during the Clinton administration advancing and producing events
and White House trips for the Office of the President, Vice President
and First Lady. These included international summits and live town
hall meetings on four continents and throughout the United
States.
Long a proponent
of creative integration of the public, private and nonprofit sectors,
she produced the first ever National Tourism Summit for the Department
of Commerce and American Tours International, conceived and implemented
the Kal Kan Capital Canine Follies (for the National Children’s
Museum) and served as the White House Liaison for the Summit of
the Americas. Under the auspices of the late Secretary of Commerce
Ron Brown, she worked with women from Israel, Egypt,
Palestine, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia
in their initial efforts with the Women of the Middle East Network
(W.O.M.E.N.)
Connie helped launch and served as the executive producer
of the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts,
the nonprofit founded by actors Jimmy Smits,
Sonia Braga and Esai
Morales.
In addition,
she has advised the royal families of Thailand
and Jordan
on their foundations, and produced, consulted or written for Vital
Voices, Multiple Sclerosis, Voices for
Children and Seeds for Peace.
Previously,
Connie, an award-winning magazine
editor, editorial consultant and writer, was a producer on the Emmy-winning
broadcasts of Monday Night Football, Wide World of Sports and
Fox Sports. Additionally, she has created, written and pre-produced
television series for PBS and A&E networks.
