Dina
McDermott has extensive grant writing, fund development and
management consulting experience with a public service record
of nearly two decades. Experienced in managing both small and large
size local municipalities, Dina has particular expertise in
such areas as financial forecasting and analysis, grant writing
and large scale fund development, construction and project management
of facilities and infrastructure, issue analysis and strategic
planning, negotiations, community relations, and quality improvement
management teams.
Her
unique professional accomplishments include serving as the Assistant
City Manager of Tamarac, Florida as well as City Manager of
Miramar, Florida. In Miramar
she restored a $36 million water membrane treatment plant and
managed the construction of a $59 million wastewater reclamation
and reuse facility. She also secured $950,000 in grants for a waste
water facility, emergency medical equipment, a multi-cultural
learning library, law enforcement program for juveniles and
improvements to Fairway Park.
Dina
has obtained over $80 million in grant funding for mid-sized
nonprofit and for-profit organizations to sustain social service
programming and develop the organizational infrastructure to
help build long-term financial sustainability.
She has provided due diligence that allowed several businesses
to obtain economic development funds to help expand their companies
locally and within the State of Florida.
As
president of DM McDermott & Associates, Inc., Dina’s unique
skills and accomplishments have often been recognized.
Price Waterhouse and South Florida Magazine awarded her
the Up & Comers Award and Sprint and the National Association
of Community Leadership awarded her the Distinguished Leadership
Award. She was named
Who's Who in Public Management from the International City/County
Management Association; recognized as a Leadership Broward Fun
Lunch Honoree; awarded the Woman of Distinction recognition
by the March of Dimes; included as one of the First Ladies of
2000 by the Broward County Fair; and named Woman of the Year
by the American Cancer Society. She holds an MS in Public Administration and
Human Resource Management from St.
Thomas University,
Miami, Florida
and a BS in Business Communications and Marketing from Nova
Southeastern University,
Fort Lauderdale,
Florida.
