Dr.
Dena Jackson has over 20 years experience in healthcare and nonprofit
management working for major organizations such as CIGNA Healthcare,
Gilda’s Club Worldwide, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation,
and The University of Texas at Dallas. She brings a high level of
professionalism and passion, along with expertise, to nonprofit
organizations. At the Komen Foundation, Dena developed and managed
a major college scholarship program, directed a grants department
awarding over $30 million per year in community grants, and was
a grant reviewer in panels awarding both international medical research
and community grants. Her experience on both sides of the development
equation – donor and fund raiser – provides extra value
to CoreStrategies’ clients.
In the healthcare
arena, Dena has successfully overseen physician group mergers, supervised
operations of medical groups with revenues over $8 million, written
financial pro formas, and designed and executed marketing programs.
Her work in program assessment, financial budgeting, and operational
efficiency can be vitally important to nonprofits looking to take
their organization to the next level.
An accomplished
speaker, Dena has been an invited presenter at the Society for Public
Health Education Scientific Conference, Gilda’s Club Worldwide
National Affiliate Conference, the Annual Meeting of the International
Center for the Integration of Health and Spirituality, and multiple
Komen Foundation events. As an adult educator, Dena has successfully
developed and conducted workshops on grant writing, proposal review
and grant management, cancer clinical trials, and nonprofit collaboration.
Dena has a PhD
in Health Studies, a Masters in Education, and is a Certified Health
Education Specialist. She is an active member of the Association
of Fundraising Professionals, the Council for Advancement and Support
of Education, and the Society for Public Health Education.
