Connie Coopersmith

Connie Coopersmith joined CoreStrategies for Nonprofits Inc. as its public policy expert after founding Swallow the Sun Communications, a boutique firm specializing in public affairs, corporate and nonprofit communications and events, speechwriting and strategic guidance. 

She served eight years during the Clinton administration advancing and producing events and White House trips for the Office of the President, Vice President and First Lady. These included international summits and live town hall meetings on four continents and throughout the United States.

Bess de Farber

Bess de Farber specializes in planning, coaching and grants management.  She has spent the past 20 years working in the nonprofit sector as a financial manager, program director, funder, grants manager, executive director and now consultant/facilitator. She has trained and provided technical assistance to over 700 organizations. 

Bess co-created the Nonprofit Resource Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida in 1998. In 2002, she created the CoLAB Planning Series, currently the only known workshop series geared to having organization representatives who are new to each other produce collaborative programs.

Linda T. Flynn

Linda T. Flynn is a research professional with extensive experience in end-to-end qualitative and quantitative research design, execution, analysis and interpretation of results of a wide-range of complex studies. Linda has the proven ability to work with all levels of management, across all work environments, to design effective research strategy for businesses, including determining key drivers and translating results into actionable planning.

Linda’s expertise lies in designing custom marketing research and all qualitative and quantitative research methodologies including focus groups, one-on-one interviews, user-experience and process, traditional surveys and online research.

Robyn Fern PerlmanDena Jackson, Ph.D.

Dr. Dena Jackson has over 20 years experience in healthcare and nonprofit management working for major organizations such as CIGNA Healthcare, Gilda’s Club Worldwide, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and The University of Texas at Dallas. She brings a high level of professionalism and passion, along with expertise, to nonprofit organizations. At the Komen Foundation, Dena developed and managed a major college scholarship program, directed a grants department awarding over $30 million per year in community grants, and was a grant reviewer in panels awarding both international medical research and community grants. Jane Jordan


Jane Jordan has extensive philanthropic experience in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, providing her with a unique perspective on the process of asking for and receiving charitable contributions.

Jane has been providing consulting services to nonprofit organizations for 17 years, and during that time has guided organizations in raising more than $75 million. Dina M. McDermott

Dina McDermott has extensive grant writing, fund development and management consulting experience with a public service record of nearly two decades.  Experienced in managing both small and large size local municipalities, Dina has particular expertise in such areas as financial forecasting and analysis, grant writing and large scale fund development, construction and project management of facilities and infrastructure, issue analysis and strategic planning, negotiations, community relations, and quality improvement management teams. 

Her unique professional accomplishments include serving as the Assistant City Manager of Tamarac, Florida as well as City Manager of Miramar, Florida.  In Miramar she restored a $36 million water membrane treatment plant and managed the construction of a $59 million wastewater reclamation and reuse facility.  She also secured $950,000 in grants for a waste water facility, emergency medical equipment, a multi-cultural learning library, law enforcement program for juveniles and improvements to Fairway Park.

James Mueller

James Mueller is a seasoned professional in organizational leadership and fund development who brings thirty years of experience in institutional advancement to his clients. Jim has provided strategic and creative executive leadership to a variety of institutions, including Advocate Health Care, Cornell University, Goodwill Industries, the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, and Northwestern University. Vicki Silver

Vicki Silver is a community planner with 27 years experience in local and state government agencies, half of which was spent working closely with the nonprofit sector.  She specializes in program development, grant writing, grants management, technical writing, and project implementation, but also has a reputation and expertise in open space/greenways, nature-based and heritage tourism, and historic preservation/folk arts.  For 14 years, as a county senior planner then a consultant, Vicki applied these areas of expertise to economic development in the Glades, Florida communities, procuring $10 million in funding for nonprofits and government agencies.  Her efforts resulted in an award in 2000 by the National Association of Counties for the Best Community and Economic Development project, for the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail: An Innovative Revitalization Approach.

Bentonne Sarah Snay

Bentonne Sarah Snay is an experienced executive and fundraiser with more than 25 years in the nonprofit sector. She holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Public Administration from Florida International University, where she specialized in community psychology, the understanding and improvement of human service organizations. Ms. Snay is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Center on Nonprofit Effectiveness and the United Way of Miami-Dade Women’s Leadership Initiative. Stephen Wahl


Stephen Wahl assists CoreStrategies with pre-campaign studies and campaigns, obtaining appointments with potential donors, foundation executives and other potential funding sources at the highest levels. On a recent CoreStrategies’ project, Steve was able to convert 100 cold calls into 36 interview appointments with some of the country’s leading philanthropists as well as the decision-makers at several highly-regarded private foundations.

Steve, who specializes in “rainmaking” – developing new business for corporate clients, both for-profit and nonprofit – also has his own boutique marketing/sales firm, Wahl & Associates. Recent clients of his firm include such diverse companies as Unreal Marketing, American Reading Company and Shell Motor Oil.

Amanda White has fifteen years of fund development experience with special emphasis in Blackbaud fund raising software products, database customization and administration, management and logistic planning for fundraising strategies, database conversions, fund account management and development operations /business processes management.
