Swallow the Sun Communications, a boutique firm specializing
in public affairs, corporate and nonprofit communications and events,
speechwriting and strategic guidance.
She served eight
years during the Clinton administration advancing and producing events
and White House trips for the Office of the President, Vice President
and First Lady. These included international summits and live town
hall meetings on four continents and throughout the United
States.

de Farber
Bess de Farber
specializes in planning, coaching and grants management. She has
spent the past 20 years working in the nonprofit sector as a financial
manager, program director, funder, grants
manager, executive director and now consultant/facilitator. She
has trained and provided technical assistance to over 700 organizations.
Bess co-created
the Nonprofit Resource Institute in West
Palm Beach, Florida in 1998. In 2002, she created
the CoLAB Planning Series, currently the
only known workshop series geared to having organization representatives
who are new to each other produce collaborative programs.

Dr. Dena Jackson
has over 20 years experience in healthcare and nonprofit management
working for major organizations such as CIGNA Healthcare, Gilda’s
Club Worldwide, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and
The University of Texas at Dallas. She brings a high level of professionalism
and passion, along with expertise, to nonprofit organizations. At
the Komen Foundation, Dena developed and managed a major college
scholarship program, directed a grants department awarding over
$30 million per year in community grants, and was a grant reviewer

Dina
McDermott has extensive grant writing, fund development and management
consulting experience with a public service record of nearly two
decades. Experienced in managing both small and large
size local municipalities, Dina has particular expertise in such
areas as financial forecasting and analysis, grant writing and

of facilities and infrastructure, issue analysis and strategic

Vicki Silver
is a community planner with 27 years experience in local and state
government agencies, half of which was spent working closely with
the nonprofit sector. She specializes in program development,
grant writing, grants management, technical writing, and project
implementation, but also has a reputation
and expertise in open space/greenways, nature-based and heritage
tourism, and historic preservation/folk arts. For 14 years,
as a county senior planner then a consultant, Vicki applied these
areas of expertise to economic development in the Glades, Florida

by the National Association of Counties for the Best Community and

years in the nonprofit sector. She holds both a Bachelor of Arts
and a Master of Public Administration from Florida International

On a recent CoreStrategies’ project, Steve was able to convert

leading philanthropists as well as the decision-makers at several
highly-regarded private foundations.
Steve, who specializes
in “rainmaking” – developing new business for
